| Bio | Hi, I'm Jo, a qualified secondary art and design teacher. I specialise in catering to a diverse range of learners, including those preparing for GCSE and 'A' level standards, younger students, and adults seeking to enhance their artistic skills. I also have a range of KS3 lesson plans for home schoolers.I qualified as a secondary teacher in 2020 after completing a two-year foundation diploma in art and design. I have a PGCE as well as QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) As a mature student, I felt it was necessary to brush up on my art skills before entering the classroom, although my original degree was in interior design. As an artist I enjoy conceptual and abstract art, using mixed media techniques.My teaching superpower lies in helping students realise strong ideas and pushing them out of their comfort zones with techniques and materials. Often, students believe they are not good at art due to their drawing skills. I want my students to know that drawing skills can be improved using proven techniques, but also that drawing isn't the only facet of art—there are numerous ways for a person to be creative and create art!Art should be fun and sometimes taking that first step is the hardest part!
