Payments, refunds & rescheduling
Clear rules around lesson changes, cancellations and payment timing.
Tutors are free to charge anything from £20 – £140 per hour. Price varies based on experience and subject support.
Tutors and students are both allowed to reschedule before the lesson starts, but the change must be mutually agreed in the messaging function.
Tutorials may be cancelled and reimbursed up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Short-notice reimbursements may be at the tutor’s discretion.
Client payments for lessons are made at least 24 hours before class. Stripe is used as the payment gateway. Lesson links are not released until payment is successful.
Tutor guidance
Expectations for professionalism, reliability, preparation, communication, reviews and payments.
- Excellent A-level grades with proof.
- A degree from a European or North American university.
- Excellent school grades in a core subject.
- Eligible to work in the UK on a self-employed basis.
- 18 years old or older.
Tutors should be professional, dependable, on time, prepared, confident in the subject, focused on the pupil, and responsive in communication.
Tutors set their own hourly rates. Seal Tutors sends an invoice by email, and payment is made directly into the tutor’s bank account once a month.
A valid DBS is an Enhanced Certificate, carried out in the UK, with Children’s Barred List information showing “None recorded”, and with a clear copy/scan of the whole physical DBS certificate.
Safeguarding & no-shows
Guidance for tutor concerns, student safety and what to do if a learner does not attend.
Seal Tutors has a dedicated Safeguarding team. Tutors should report concerns with as much detail as possible. The team will handle the matter gently and confidentially.
Tutors should remain in the lesson area for the full class time, because pupils may be late. The recording begins when the tutor enters the class area.
